Toronto Biennial of Art

TD is proud to have provided seed funding to the Toronto Biennial of Art.

The vision for Toronto Biennial of Art is to create a first class, international visual arts biennale for the city of Toronto; 90 days in length, engaging youth, families, artists, communities and professionals in the arts, while building cultural infrastructure from a national and global perspective.

The biennial will bring people and art together to expand the understanding of Canada’s position in the world. The biennial aims to create a meeting point in Toronto in the field of visual arts between artists and audiences from Canada and diverse cultures. The goal is to enable the formation of an international cultural network between local and international art circles, artists, curators and art critics by bringing together new trends and ideas in contemporary art in Toronto, every two years.

Acting as a counterbalance to museum programs and exhibitions, the Toronto Biennial of Art, will be a cultural catalyst in its spirit of experimentation, innovation and the communication of ideas. Ontario’s great capital will become an incubator for the global visual arts with a program of exhibitions, artist talks, performances, forums, family events and community initiatives, guided school/group tours, publications and other special events.
